How to Keep Your Home Clean in 4 Easy Steps
Lately, there has been a constant struggle that has been going on in my home, its the struggle of a clean home. Since, I am sucked into the social media life, I see tons of gorgeous pictures of these lovely, modern homes. They look so clean and fresh as if beds are always made and there is not a toy on the floor. It makes me want exactly that. A gorgeous home that is decorated and organized in a way that seems as if their house is always clean. I want this except I have the opposite of that. My apartment home is definitely a work in progress. The realistic part of me says at the very least I can make do with a clean home. At least for now. However the struggle is so real. In my home I am the very definition of the homemaker. Here are some tips of that I feel have helped me win this battle.
1. The 15 minute pick up. Everyday before I start my day and also before I go to bed. I take the time to do a general pick up. That saves so much time psychologically. I hate the idea of having to clean every single day. This little trick makes me feel like I'm not slaving away and its nice coming home to a clean home.
2. Split up the chores. In my home I am the only one who cleans. it seems like I got the short end of the stick. However, it is what it is. My dear husband helps out by trying to keep a handle on his own personal items, so I'm not stuck picking up after him and baby. I pick one day for deep cleaning and the next day on laundry and whatever else I didn't get done. I love having the option doing the bathroom and kitchen one day and floors another day. When I was single. I did everything on one day and only cleaned once a week. I was able to keep everything in place. Fast forward five years and its a whole new story.
3. Find a place for everything. Organization and storage are my favorite things. When we moved into the place we are in today we new that storage was going to be an issue, but we underestimated how much of an issue. We have had to find creative ways to hide certain things. I am still working on finding the right place for everything.
4. Ask for help. This was a hard tip for me. It was hard and sometimes is still hard for me to ask for help for things that I feel are for me to do. However, a different prospective on organization or cleaning tips has helped me figure out what works for me and my family. It helped me have a healthy fresh perspective on what my organizational problems are and how it can possibly be solved. Asking for help gave me peace of mind and ultimately peace in my home.
These steps definitely helped me over the past few months to not feel so overwhelmed. Everything is not perfect like I would like it, but it is definitely a major step in the right direction In keeping my home. I hope these tips help you on your quest for a cleaner and happier home.
